This green tea brick has been hand crafted by the traditional method-- the tea leaves are first steamed and then pressed into a brick shape using a mould. Initially the Singhphos of Upper Assam used to make green tea in this manner in the form of a brick. The British liked this brick tea very much and patronized it. However, this tea dwindled into oblivion with the coming of CTC machines in the 20th century. Now an attempt is being made to revive this ancient tradition. Enjoy!
